Speaker biography:

Zhou lubo: 

Dr. Lubo Zhou is currently a senior R&D manager forUOP's gas processing, membrane, and hydrogen PSA development. He led a team of16 people (majority of them are PhDs) with multi-million dollar R&D budgeta year. UOP, A Honeywell Company is the world leader in providing technologiesin refining, petrochemical, and gas processing industry. Dr. Zhou joined UOP inAugust 1996 as a R&D specialist. He was later promoted to a senior R&Dspecialist, R&D manager, and senior R&D manager. In May 2010, Dr. Zhouwas awarded with "Excellence in Innovation" in Honeywell, one ofprestigious awards for a Honeywell scientist. He currently holds 11 US patentswith 16 patent applications in pending. Dr. Zhou is very active inChinese-American professional community. He was the president ofChinese-American Chemical Society and president of Association ofChinese-American Scientists and Engineers. He started the local chapter ofHonywell Asian Network in Chicago, and later became the chairman of HoneywellAsian Network worldwide. 
Dr. Zhou received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering fromTsinghua University in 1986, and his PhD degree in Chemical Engineering fromTexas A&M University in 1995.

Wu Xiaomao:

Xiaomao Wu received his BS and MS degreesin Chemistry fromTsinghua University (Beijing, China), and his Ph.D. inChemistry from Universityof Texas at Arlington with thesis research onthe chemical instability ofnonlinear reaction systems. Afterpostdoctoralresearch in biochemistry at National Institutes of Health, hejoined AbbottLaboratories in 1992 and has been working there since then. At Abbott,he has been involved in variousresearch and development projects mainlyfor in vitro diagnostic instrument products. Currently he is a principalscientist andmanager for a Systems Integration group at Abbott Molecular,an Abbott divisionthat manufactures the molecular diagnostic products,located in Des Plaines, IL. His major responsibility is to integratenew applications(nucleic acid assay chemistry) to the automated samplepreparation and analysisinstrument systems (both hardware, software anddata reduction algorithm) suchthat the product requirements and user needsare met.

Cheng Yu:

Yu Cheng received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University,Beijing, China,in 1995 and 1998, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and ComputerEngineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada,in 2003. From September 2004 to July 2006, he was a postdoctoral researchfellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.Since August 2006, he has been with the Department of Electrical and ComputerEngineering, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois, USA, as an Assistant Professor. Hisresearch interests include next-generation Internet architectures andmanagement, wireless network performance analysis, network security, andwireless/wireline interworking. He received a Postdoctoral Fellowship Awardfrom the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) in2004, and a Best Paper Award from the conferences QShine 2007 and ICC 2011.
He receivedthe National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER award in 2011. He served as aCo-Chair for the Wireless Networking Symposium of IEEE ICC 2009, a Co-Chair forthe Communications QoS, Reliability, and Modeling Symposium of IEEE GLOBECOM2011, and a Technical Program Committee (TPC) Co-Chair for WASA 2011. He is anAssociated Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.
